Procrastination is when you find yourself having trouble making yourself keep doing important tasks or any meaningful tasks at hand and delaying them unnecessarily. In procrastination, you tend to mentally wander off and get distracted easily by anything or activity that is not more important than the tasks you are doing at the moment.

We are not born procrastinators. We develop the habit and procrastinate. Believe me or not, it has nothing to do with the work you are doing. It is not the reason you procrastinate. It is not because what you do is not of your interest. Instead, procrastination is a form of stress release. For Example, it is very similar to people developing a habit of tobacco consumption.

How does it happen? There as three stages of every habit. First is a Trigger, then comes an Action, and then comes a Reward. In the case of procrastination, stress becomes the Trigger. The Action is you not doing something, and lastly, the Reward is stress relief. Of course, you cannot avoid stress as life has its ups and downs. What you can do is train yourself to see these Triggers and see the whole process. So that when the time it happens, you can remind yourself that this is not good and find out the stress. Once you have found what is causing the stress, take a deep breath and get back to strictly working for just five minutes. Now, You are making this into a new habit. Where your mind slowly breaks out of the program to go on a vacation when it is stressed. Try it. It just takes three weeks to make or break a habit. Then, this won't be too difficult either. Chances are, once you get back to work, you will not stop again. Even when you do stop again, you will know it and you will get back to work. Soon you will come to a point where you become unstoppable, even by your stress. Stress then becomes a speed breaker but not a red light at the signal.
